If your computer was recently updated from Internet Explorer 7 to Internet Explorer 8, you may experience compatibility problems with Blackboard.  There is an easy fix for this (or other websites that don’t work properly in the new version).  Simply go the Blackboard login page and click the Compatibility View button (to the right of the address bar).  You will only need to do this once, since IE 8 will remember this setting each time you go to the Blackboard site.

If you are not sure what version of IE you are using, press Alt-H and select About Internet Explorer.  This dialog box will display the version number.  This also shows up in the Blackboard browser checker on the login page and My SCCOnline page.

IE 8 will still show up as unsupported in the Blackboard browser checker, but should work fine once Compatibility View is turned on.  We expect to apply service pack 3 to our Blackboard system over the holidays, and it is fully compatible with IE 8.
