SCCOnline offers several different formats in which to take classes:

Video Courses   A video course uses videotaped lectures to present course information to students. Videotapes can be pre-produced and purchased from vendors such as the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), or produced in-house. Courses also include interactive components such as in-person review sessions, telephone conferences, and communication via email or listserves.

Students will need a VCR to participate in this type of class.  A set of tapes for each course is also available in the SCC Library for in-house viewing.

TeleWeb Course  TeleWeb courses are video courses that are supplemented by an Internet component. The Internet component may contain on-line discussion or chat forums, or links for additional information presented in the video portion of the course.

Teleclass  A teleclass is a course that is offered via two-way  compressed-video in a distance learning classroom. Interactive video is used to present course information to students at multiple locations throughout the state, country or internationally. Spartanburg Community College currently has two distance learning classrooms located in the Gaines Building, that allow for two-way audio and video interaction between faculty and students. The instructor has the capability to see, hear, and speak to the students at each of the participating sites and students are able to see the instructor and respond or comment on the lectures.

Online Courses  Online courses enable faculty to provide instruction to students via the Internet. Web courses provide students the capability to obtain course information, course notes and handouts, review a course calendar, communicate via email, and other functions to facilitate the instructional process.
